The Dreambig Innovation Challenge invites TY students across the Midlands to identify a real problem in their community and create an engineering or technology-based solution.
Students may work to their strengths by selecting from a range of techniques such as sketching, CAD modelling, prototyping, coding, engineered solutions, physical models, or digital models to develop and present their concept.
Identify a problem in your school, home, town, or local community.
Research the problem and define who is affected.
Design a solution using any appropriate combination of sketches, CAD, models, or prototypes etc.
Demonstrate how your solution could be manufactured or produced, considering materials, production processes, assembly, and sustainability.
Reflect on how your solution impacts the environment and local community.
Creativity: Show originality and thoughtful engineering.
Manufacturing: What materials and processes would you use? Can it be made locally?
Sustainability: How can you minimise waste and environmental impact?
Feasibility: Could your idea realistically work in everyday life?
Impact: How would your project improve the end users' everyday lives?
Students will present their project at the Dreambig Expo at TUS Athlone in May 2026.
